Mr. Gleason is a member of HSGLaw. In March, 2022 he was appointed general counsel to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, where he maintains an office and works full-time at the union’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.  He previously served as general counsel for the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, AFL-CIO. For more than thirty years, Mr. Gleason has represented labor unions in a wide range of industries across the country in federal and state trial and appellate courts, federal and state administrative agencies, and national, regional and local collective bargaining negotiations. His experience includes work in the trucking, carhaul, airline, maritime, railroad, warehouse, construction, parking, and mining sectors.  He has also represented and served as co-counsel for large, multi-employer pension and welfare benefit plans, as well as labor-related foundations and advocacy organizations.  For many years, he has also performed pro bono legal and related work involving international labor and human rights throughout the world. Mr. Gleason served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center for fourteen years, where he taught Advanced Labor Law and Practice and Procedure to both J.D. and L.L.M. degree students. Mr. Gleason graduated magna cum laude from Fordham University in 1986, where he double majored in political science and classical civilizations and was inducted in three national honor societies, including phi beta kappa. He earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law (now Penn State Dickinson School of Law), where he graduated cum laude and was inducted as a member of the Woolsack Honor Society. Mr. Gleason is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. (active) and Pennsylvania (inactive), the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Third Circuit, Seventh Circuit, Ninth Circuit, and D.C. Circuit, as well as several federal district courts.

Community Involvement:

Mr. Gleason regularly speaks at conferences on issues involving union stewards training, organizing, the Railway Labor Act and employee benefits. Mr. Gleason also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center from 1996-2009, where he taught Advanced Labor Law and Practice and Procedure before the NLRB to both J.D. and L.L.M. degree students.
